Hello!

It has been a while I know… I blame it on 2017 being utterly AMAZING! It’s had me travelling all over the UK and abroad! It’s kept me super busy, but I’m back to show you some of my highlights from the year and then you will see why I have somewhat neglected my blog… I am too excited to share these moments with you.

I just want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to EVERYONE I have had the pleasure on working with and to whom I have become friends with since. Every year I am blown away by the kindness and warmth from my couples.

2017 has had me venturing to the Cotswolds, Devon, London and not forgetting my destination wedding to Mallorca too! I have photographed in Barns, Back gardens, Museums, Secret Gardens, Halls, Estates, Farms, Chapels and so much more. I was even invited on a boat ride down the Thames at one wedding!

When I reflect back on the years, I tend to get a little emotional so I’m going to keep it short and sweet so not to embarrass myself! ha-ha.

I hope you enjoy looking through my 2017 highlights 🙂

‘When we first met lucy she was bubbly, chatty and just super lovely which made us feel calm and relaxed because you just don’t know what to expect!

On our wedding day it really just felt like having a friend take our photos, and we are so happy with them, they are fab fab fab! You really captured our special day beautifully.’

‘We are absolutely over the moon that Lucy photographed our wedding. From our first meeting with her, she made us feel comfortable and relaxed, it was like meeting with a friend. That continued through our pre-wedding shoot and of course on the big day.

Rick and I were both nervous about being photographed, but in Lucy’s company we just felt like us, and we laughed and laughed! When we received our wedding photos it was clear how comfortable we felt around Lucy, as we and our family and friends just look happy and relaxed.

I love the special moments Lucy captured without us realising. Hugs, giggles, chats with our loved one which help to show what a special day we had.

In the build up to our wedding we could not have asked Lucy to be more supportive. She was always there to explain things to us and offer advice. We will never forget what she did for us and could not have asked for more from her! She was just amazing!”

We will be recommending her to everyone we know getting married!”

I recently shared some of my favourite wedding moments of 2016, along side this i also wanted to share some of my favourite personal 2016 moments. Its been a very busy year in both work and life and can honestly say one of my favourite years so heres what iv got up too! …

Starting off the year, I had my hen do down in Brighton for a weekend away, this was soooo much fun! Lots of food, games and dancing.  This weekend was also celebrating my birthday as it was the big 30! Eek! Before my birthday i was honestly a little nervous about turning 30, all my insecurities of what i ‘should’ have achieved by now but actually its been pretty terrific so far and i know things will all plan out eventually. =)

Skip a couple of months and Steve and I jetting off to Brisbane, Australia to see the inlaws and have our honeymoon. This was before our wedding day for a few reasons. One; the weather in April is better than June. Two; June being a popular date for weddings i couldn’t take 3 weeks off. BUT there was another reason also! … We secretly got married with all of Steve’s Family!! Ahhh! I say secret, it was maybe a secret to just under half our wedding guests as i seem to be very bad at keeping secrets that big and exciting! HA.

It was a very small affair of approx. 30 guests. The ceremony was held in a botanical garden on Mount Cootha, Brisbane, with a few nibbles back at the cafe afterwards. It was really lovely, … terrifying but lovely! Haha I had skyped my mum and dad on the morning whilst Steve and I got ready at his parents house. Steves brother and family where also with us and it all just felt very relaxed.

Just after the ceremony, the heavens opened, and if you have ever been to Australia you will know that it doesn’t hold back, when it rains it hammers it down. This lasted all of about 10 mins before it cleared again but this was the time we where having portraits. I honestly didn’t care, we were both getting wet, i was getting ‘frizz hair’ but we went for it as we knew there wouldn’t be another time.

Hear are a few images from that day, photographed by Moments by Frankie.

Brisbane wedding2016 2016 - A personal round up.

We then went to Fiji for a weeks ‘proper honeymoon’ and a final week back in Oz before flying home again. It was BLISS.

Skip another month or so and we headed down to Devon for our Wedding Day! We had it at the stunning Tunnel Beaches, a venue i have photographed at a couple of times now and simply fell head over heels for and knew there was no other place quite like it. We had it on a bank holiday Monday to cut the costs down and it turned out to be the best day of the week weather wise, far from the weather in Oz! HA. I have no words to really describe what our wedding day was like other than that it was absolutely perfect for us, i couldn’t have asked for anything more.

The lovely Katherine Ashdown captured the day for us, travelling all the way from Norfolk. Looking back at the images still fills me with warmth, love and happiness. I wanted a very relaxed wedding, i threw out any traditions that didn’t mean anything to us. I wanted us to be comfortable and importantly for us and our guests to have fun! We are not traditional/ formal people, i felt the day reflected who we are and I’m very pleased how it all turned out.

The big surprise of us already being legally married was revealed my my sister – Bridemaids / Cermony conductor. She walked down the aisle and then stood at the front to carry out the ceremony- I LOVED that she did this for us, and everyones faces and surprised expressions of all the events unravelling.

Here is a little snippet into our day ~

bridal prepHuge thanks to Vicky who is also a Hertfordshire girl, and who i have worked with plenty of times for coming to do my hair and make up. It was so nice to have another familiar face.

2016 tunnel beaches

During the summer, we moved from a flat to a house which was super exciting! Shortly after 2 cats moved in Lola and Ziggy which i have been patiently / or not so patiently waiting for years to happen! I also got myself a new (ish) car, i have a real love for Golfs and knew no other kind would do, very lucky to have found one. So these are the big events that took place in my life in 2016, as you can see – incredibly busy, along side photographing all my beautiful couples weddings too but no doubt the best year EVER!!

Thank you to everyone who played apart in my life in 2016 – you made it one of a kind….. Bring on 2017! x

Best of 2016 - Lucy Noble Photography

2016, another incredible year!

It has been really tough to decide which moments are my favourites from 2016 as there has been so many, from so many wonderful weddings! I have travelled all over the UK and met and then became friends with some amazing people! This year I have selected my personal favourite moments from either a photography point of view, a fun moment that I still laugh about when I see the image or one that makes me think this is what all weddings are really about….

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your continued support. It has been one amazing year and is always a pleasure being apart of such special days.

Put the kettle on, grab a mince pie and enjoy some of my favourite frames from 2016! Merry Christmas! =)

My Mum. Mothers Day

Mum.

Mum you taught me to believe, and to have a huge imagination. You taught me to say “Please go away” to any flying insects that might be around me, rather than trying to bat them or just simply run away from them screaming. You showed me what its like to get up at the crack of dawn and walk quietly in the woods and experience deer rutting in its amazing, natural form. You showed me what its like to meditate amongst Buddhists.

Mum, you taught me that it’s OK to be a little different. That not every body knows what they want to do in the future, that not everybody has a clear route laid out for them. You was there when I was going through dark times and nobody else understood. You was also there to moan at me every day about how untidy my bedroom was!

Mum, you believed in me when I struggled. You where supportive when I was wavering. You understood my need to do something creative, the need to find my passion and pursue it even if that would mean sometimes a slow, and rocky path.

You taught me to be kind, to listen, to give, to go for my dreams, and to love and respect all things.

Happy Mothers Day Mum. Thank you for being you x

Last week i blogged about my one week challenge that i set for my self, you can read about it here.  Well the week flew by and i was actually a little nervous about it, as somehow putting it out for the world to see, added some pressure to the whole situation but that turned out to be a great thing!!  Although i perhaps didn’t score 100%, ultimately it did what i needed it to do, it gave me that push to step out of that big whole i was sitting in.

So heres the quick low down, i didn’t manage to only check social media sites once a day. Turns out its actually really hard especially when running a business that relies on it heavily!  I did make the conscious effort to use them a lot less than normal though and it really did help me feel in the here and now and not under the big cloud of social media madness!

My diet healthy eating plan felt like my biggest success, I lost 2.5 lbs! Its a great start although my challenge is actually this week, to keep on going with it and not just put it back on again. As mentioned in the other post, I’m not great at sticking to these things for a very long time, so I’m even more focused and determined to actually lose twice in a row!

On tuesday i went for my run, half way through i stumbled and twisted my ankle ~ ah i was sooo gutted! BUT although it was probably quite stupid, I KEPT ON RUNNING. It was more of a hobble actually and at a snails pace but i was determined to keep trying, to keep going. As soon as i got home, i elevated it and put some frozen peas on it. Couple of days later it seems to be ok ~ YAY!

Lots of work has been happening in the world of Lucy Noble Photography so i am behind on my 5 day creative process. I still am going to do it, it is just spread out over more then 5 days 😉  From what i have done so far though it has been fun!

looking down an alley behind bars

The whole constant positive thinking requires some training and isn’t a quick process to achieve but it has helped me be more aware of my thoughts and how it effects me. This week has been great, i have felt lighter in my body and mind 😉

To round off this post here are a few images of cats……. just because ….. they are AWSOME!

Do you ever get the winter blues? Do you ever feel like your not making the most out of life? That surely there is more out there? Well i do sometimes… i feel like I’m stuck in a rut and i need to beat down some walls and kick some ass!

So with this in mind and now that January is out of the way, I have decided to give myself a one week challenge! Now this isn’t extreme like climbing mount everest or jumping out of an aeroplane but i feel the need to make a few changes. I firmly believe that small steps can create huge changes but i am not one of those people who is great at sticking to things for a very long time. (Mainly dieting and exercise) HOWEVER I’m telling myself that just for this one week, do not think passed this one week…. just give this one week all you have got and see what happens…

Here are the small changes i will be making~

Get off social media sites.

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 13.25.53In the evenings i often moan at Steve for being on his iPad so much but actually if I’m honest I am just as guilty, like so many of us! An age where we are glued to our phones, computers, tablets etc although i do this, i really dislike it. I know what I’m doing so why do i not stop it? Therefor i am going to check social media sites just once a day. I am scheduling in posts, sneak peeks etc so they are all done and ready.  Instead of watching a screen, learning what people had for breakfast or what they are  doing, i shall focus on what i am doing! I shall be with Steve, friends or family. Heck, i might even spend the time pampering myself!

One week challenge

Stick to my diet healthy eating plan 100%

“Oh yes, I’m totally sticking to it but for some reason I’m not getting anywhere!?” … This is what my slimming world leader hears pretty much on a weekly basis from me. Sometime i even believe it myself! But come on ~ I know, she knows and everyone else knows i’m just kidding myself. So for just one week i will make the effort, i will stick to it 100% and we shall see what next weigh in brings.

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 13.54.03

Keep on running

I am no athlete and the thought of running gives me shivers. I have a vivid memory from school days where i had to run round a field whilst the boys where playing some ball game in the middle. They all stopped and stared, one shouted “watch out, you will get panda eyes!” Since then i was always sick at gym time or i would just hide in a bush until it was all over…. sad i know. However fast forward to now, a few of my friends an i have started the couch to 5k , you can get a free app from the NHS. We are currently on week 2 of a 9 week program, thats says you can run 5k by the end and our aim is to run the Race for life in the summer, Fingers crossed! =) We are actually enjoying it, and even though we are only 2 weeks in we can definitely see progress! You should try it if you want to start up running.

 A 5 day creative process

I have signed up to a 5 day creative process purely for myself that is run by Megan Hof. Having a business that started as a hobby means my hobby is now work. I photograph for my clients, don’t get me wrong its the most amazing  job and i wouldn’t change it for the world but i forget what its like to photograph something just for myself. To simply play… so I am going to play! =)

Positive thinking

Every time a negative thought enters my head, it can be about anything. I will try and turn it into a positive.

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 14.21.28What my one week challenge will hopefully accomplish, is to beat down those walls that sometimes make me feel like I’m stuck. To feel energised and that i am actually grabbing life and making the most out of it. =) I’ll let you know the results next week!

2015 ~ What's in storeI am a list person, a note taker, and a goal writer, so of course i have a list of new years resolutions or goals that i am eagerly waiting to tick off and give myself a high five for!

I have my 2014 list right next to my computer screen. Its stares at me everyday, and the few i haven’t managed to tick off seem to be glowing in bold. Almost as if, its actually my enemy and we are having a stand off as to who will win. Well, i win! Even though there are a couple i haven’t managed to wipe off, i have learnt that its ok. Every step (or goal) that has been ticked off means i am heading in the right direction and i am still moving forward, still taking the steps and that is all that matters.

So here are my 2015 resolutions (or goals):

* Be a little braver/ do a little more/ push a little harder. (This one is actually on my list every year and could actually have a million sub headers but i will not go into that now.)

This is my top priority and is aimed at all aspects of my life. Before i started my little photography business i was incredibly shy and nervous of pretty much everything! Even in my school days i was known as quiet. (apart from my laugh- that baby just comes out of know where!!)  Growing up I had struggled with anxiety and depression which led me to hide, give up and feel empty, so this little resolution is very important to me as i used to get so annoyed with myself for the things i would turn down or not try (i would tell myself off but still not act!). Over the past 8/10 years lots has happened which has led me to see life in a new way and finding this job that i love so much, that i feel so connected with and  the amazing feeling i get of freedom, excitement, love and passion, i want to explore more! I want to push the limits within myself~ I am always looking forward now.

* Keep fit and healthy.

This no doubt is on a lot of peoples lists but it is a gooden! =)  I myself am getting married in 2016! So i want to slowly but surely get to a weight i am comfortable with and not do any panic dieting 4 weeks before the wedding! Also photographing weddings are actually quiet demanding on a photographers body you need to have a certain level of stamina! I weighed my equipment back in the summer that i take round to weddings with me, and shockingly it weighed in at 2 stone! Now imagine carrying that round with you all day for around 8-10 hours, along with all the running, squatting, climbing and general acrobats us photographers have to do!

* Spend more time with friends.

Friends are good for your soul 😉  I have managed to work out a good balance for seeing my family regularly along with working most weekends and I do see my friends but not as much as i would like – so FRIENDS i am coming for you this year! Ha-ha.

* Save money – boring but is needed for our wedding!

* Continue to meet amazing people.  Laugh lots, give more and enjoy the roller coaster journey of running my own little photography business. =)

What are your goals? ….
